Her new book, The Earth's Blanket: Traditional Teachings for Sustainable Living, represents a bringing together of everything she does. Which is of course a good thing, but I came away a little discomfitted. This book is a very uncritical treatment of one coastal tribe, used then as a possible pattern for "sustainable living." Since the book has these great aspirations, she has the responsibility to undertake critical analysis, to show us WHY this particular people should be some sort of pattern or blueprint for the future.

The book fails to do that/5.
